You may or may not know that Pato had a Boat Tail motor retainer, using the 38-54 size. I really liked how this worked, and I would like to try to duplicate the same behavior on the rebuild, but I would like to avoid having to use the really heavy Aluminum unit from Giant Leap. Instead, I am going to attempt to create the same functionality from the Aerosleeves that I am using instead. I have molded one part, and it seems to be working thus far. The benefit? The less weight I put in the rear-end of the rocket, the less weight I need up front to balance it out. This weight savings is very important, because the more weight I can choose to put in the nose, the larger selection of motors I can fly in it, and retain stability at the same time. One thing that Pato failed at was a smaller selection of motors than I had hoped for, so this is something I definately want to improve in this rebuild. Also, it allows me to concentrate the added weight required to achieve optimal mass in the nose cone, rather than balancing it across the entire length of the rocket. My process and my parts need some refining, but I think the concept is sound, and that it can be accomplished very much the way I had imagined it. Stay tuned!
