First Site Revamp

2006-Mar-13

When I began this site, it was actually just one page, because I got enough questions about one of my projects to warrant not wanting to have to actually explain everything about the project over and over. Then I got people asking about the rest of my stuff, and what other rockets I had ideas or plans for. So I figured why not? It's a perfect way to mess with HTML, and Rockets at the same time.

I had a slightly less than complete plan going into the creation of this site, but in order to make everything flexible enough for expansion, I had to come up with something. This plan has evolved, and sections have been added, re-arranged, combined, separated, and completely reorganized from what I originally had in mind. Up until now, I have managed to stick with that plan fairly well, but while I am doing my best to constantly add form, data, and functionality to this site, there isn't a lot that has actually changed since I started it.

To that end, the first section that I would like to make notably different from what it has been in the past, is the 'updates' section on the home page. Chances are, this will be the first page you see when you visit, and I would like to make it look a bit more appealing.

My intention, is to give it a bit more style and flare, and perhaps a bit of something 'extra' when you visit, which will make you want to click here, and click there, or even come back from time to time. When I go to launches, the article about them will be previewed here, in the large pane. New developments in rocketry, or with my rockets/projects will also be previewed. I have also forced myself to commit to keeping new things coming, because the scripting that builds this page ceases to look at things after they reach a certain maturity, though archived updates will still be available at the bottom of the page.

While I don't have any photos for this particular article, I do intend several rather large changes that will make both visual asthetics, and readability better in all of the articles on this page, from rockets and projects, to events. I would hope that this site is easy to navigate, and that the user-interface, and arrangement all makes sense, and is easy to follow to where you want to go.

Lastly, I would like to invite you to give me feedback. If you have comments, concerns, suggestions, or complaints, I would love to hear them. Not everyone is going to like it here, and I don't expect you to, but I would like to hear why.

Thank you.
